small group of 5-maybe 6
around a tiny table gathered
time stood still as the study unfolded
and remains still some 22 years later
forgotten though until recently
this memory returning and not relenting
"upon this rock" a well-known verse
wisdom worth the mining
"It is here," He said. "I'll build My church."
and it wasn't just what was or wasn't said about Peter
but also the very location of where "It is HERE, was."
a landmark in that period, of all that is unholy
a parable speaker, mysterious thinker
always headed right where He's intending
"What do you say?" He prods.
Before shifting to the one solid thing remaining...
... and that is not those doing the building,
... not the health of the dirt being built upon
it is powerfully and simply, the Cornerstone
of whom this One speaking
would become

"Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame."
