What is his name?

Deuteronomy 31:8 makes a great address for living:  The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do no be afraid; do not be discouraged.

One of the blessings of raising an 8 year old is pouring in and wisdom received as I go.  We started a devotional this summer and actually do it some mornings. ✋ But it is on the names of God and the names from this morning were:

My Light.  I have a teacher who recently said that perfection is hard-wired in us... because that is what's coming. I love that!  But here in this season of living in the fall - there is darkness and even overwhelming seasons of it that may come and go - but within it remains a promise of God to be our light.  It takes faith to believe what cannot be seen, and it takes action to abide.  Purposely abiding in that Deut. 31 house - of not being afraid... of not being discouraged... even when it feels like the farthest thing that is needed at such a moment - act by choosing to abide in the promise, choosing to believe God is who he says he is.

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world."

1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you; God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

Psalm 18:28 For you light my lamp; the LORD my God illuminates my darkness.

2 Timothy 1:6  For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of hands.  For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Isaiah 60: 19-20 "No longer will you have the sun for light by day, nor for brightness will the moon give you light; But you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.  Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end."

Revelation 22:5 And there will be no longer any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.
