changing shape

based on perception

and expectation
of  prey's presence

and breadth of it

can't possibly be sustained

when sized and swallowed

marks predator fulfillment

the kill itself
always a rush
where disdain

within's been
shushed, &
 curtain call

the second wind

placing power on 

what's seen as effort

hunter left now
in needed limbo

between empty &
 "let's size up" again

and devouring?

often the unseen
unimagined path
to healing

holding hands with infinite
who lends each listener the hearing
of ancient promise tried and true
